BOCA RATON — Award season has come early for Florida Atlantic, as redshirt freshman quarterback Chris Robison and junior linebacker Rashad Smith were respectively named Conference USA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Robison, 19, threw for a program-record 471 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday’s 33-27 win over Air Force. Making only his second career start at the FBS level, Robison’s 82.5 completion percentage was the highest single-game mark in program history and his 33 completions were second to only Rusty Smith’s 35 in a 2007 loss to Louisiana-Monroe.
That wasn’t the only honor for Robison on Monday, as the Allstate Sugar Bowl named him one of eight finalists for the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.
