BOCA RATON — Lane Kiffin may not yet know who will start for Florida Atlantic when the Owls open at No. 7 Oklahoma next Saturday, but he thinks that day is quickly approaching.
How quickly? By the time FAU leaves for Oklahoma on Friday, Kiffin believes a starting quarterback will likely have already been decided.
“That’s realistic to think,” Kiffin said. “Usually, 99 percent of teams usually do, so that’s realistic.”
FAU held its final scrimmage before entering its first “game week” of the season on Saturday afternoon. Redshirt junior and former “Last Chance U” star De’Andre Johnson continues to compete with redshirt freshman Chris Robison and graduate student Rafe Peavey, who transferred to FAU from SMU earlier this month, for the starting quarterback job.
