Florida Atlantic came away with a potentially season-altering win, 49-14, over rival FIU in Miami on Saturday night to ruin the Panthers’ previously unbeaten record in Conference USA.
The Owls (4-5, 2-3 C-USA) ran all over the Panthers (6-3, 4-1), received a spark from backup quarterback De’Andre Johnson’s insertion into the game and played sound defensively in their first road victory of the season.
Time will tell if the win will snowball into momentum for the final three regular season games for FAU, which had lost four of its previous five entering Saturday, with Western Kentucky up next.
