FAU's Tyler Frank excited about opportunity with Tampa Bay Rays

When former Florida Atlantic shortstop Tyler Frank was in high school, he was a lightly-recruited prospect.

Three years later, he leaves as the school’s highest draft pick. On Monday, he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays with the No. 56 pick in the second round. He is the second Owls player to be drafted in the second round in three years. In 2016, shortstop Tyler Chatham was taken by the Boston Red Sox. Chatham is still in their minor league organization.

“Just hard work,” Frank said. “It’s helped me my whole life.
