Florida Atlantic’s baseball team missed the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2014 when the 64-team field was announced Monday afternoon.
The Owls likely needed to win the Conference USA tournament last week in order to earn a third consecutive berth in the NCAA tournament, but were eliminated by Rice on Saturday. FAU went 2-2 in Biloxi, Miss.
FAU (35-21-1, 18-12 Conference USA) made the NCAA tournament as an at-large team the last two seasons and earned an automatic bid in 2013. This is the first time since 2007 that an Owls team with at least 35 wins missed the NCAA tournament.
