The Athletic’s Ben Standig tweeted that FAU cornerback James Pierre and linebacker Rashad Smith agreed to deals with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears, respectively, as undrafted free agents shortly after the 2020 NFL Draft.
Terms of their deals aren’t known. Smith posted about the signing on Instagram saying, “Life ain’t tied with a bow but it’s still a gift though. GOD thank you. Glory 2 God #beardown #Underdog."
Pierre, a Deerfield Beach High School alum, is the fourth FAU player to voluntarily leave school early to declare for the NFL draft and finished his FAU career with 120 total tackles, 18 pass breakups, 8 1/2 tackles for losses and 3 interceptions in 39 games played.
