BOCA RATON — There never was any question about how dangerous Florida Atlantic’s wide receivers group could be.
The problem, as Owls head coach Lane Kiffin stressed throughout training camp, was that the unit wasn’t living up to those expectations. Injuries and mental errors made a talented receiving group which fields two former Power Five players – DeAndre McNeal (Texas) and former Miramar star Jovon Durante (West Virginia) – instead one of FAU’s biggest concerns going into the regular season.
With Durante, redshirt junior Tavaris Harrison, and sophomore Willie Wright all coming off strong performances in Saturday’s 33-27 win over Air Force, Kiffin is finally optimistic about his wide receivers.
