The Florida Atlantic Owls are the top seed, but they had to rally to defeat Charlotte 7-5 in their Conference USA Tournament opener on Wednesday in Hattiesburg, Miss.
Charlotte scored three runs in the first inning before FAU could answer with runs from Stephen Kerr and Billy Endris to make it 3-2.
A solo homer put Charlotte up 4-2 in the second inning, but Tyler Frank singled and eventually scored in the bottom of the inning to bring it back to a one-run game.
An Austin Langham single in the third drove in Christian Dicks to tie it, and then an error in the fifth inning allowed Esteban Puerta to reach base.
