Before the postseason even began, Florida Atlantic baseball coach John McCormack expressed concerns about playing Long Beach State.
In the end, he was right.
The Owls lost 5-1 in Sunday's NCAA regional, falling to Long Beach State for the second time in three days. FAU ended its season at 39-19.
"They pitched exceptionally well," McCormack said. "They got the hits when they needed it. I thought our guys battled. We just came up short. It was a fantastic year, but we'll be back."
The Owls were more concerned about Long Beach State than top-seeded Miami because of their unfamiliarity with them.
