WEST PALM BEACH — Devin Singletary’s push for a Heisman Trophy fell short, but the junior Florida Atlantic running back added a different award to his mantle on Sunday night.
After running for 1,920 yards and 32 touchdowns as a true sophomore in 2017, Singletary (American Heritage-Delray) was named Amateur Athlete of the Year by the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame. FAU head coach Lane Kiffin was also honored with Palm Beach County Coach of the Year after leading the Owls to more wins last season (11) than the team had from 2014-16 (9). FAU also won their first Conference USA title and routed Akron 50-3 in the Boca Raton Bowl.
