The Florida Atlantic football team won't have to travel much during the first half of this season.
The Owls play five of their first six games in South Florida, opening the season Sept. 3 against Division I-AA Southern Illinois at FAU Stadium. They attempt to improve on last year's 3-9 finish as coach Charlie Partridge enters his third season.
After the opener, the schedule continues with consecutive road games at Miami and Kansas State. The Owls then return home to face Ball State before beginning the Conference USA schedule at Florida International Oct.
