Florida Atlantic is aiming for an “early fall construction phase” of the Schmidt Family Complex for Academic & Athletic Excellence, Athletic Director Pat Chun said through a university spokesperson.
The $40 million facility will house new football offices, a weight room, training room, study rooms and academic space for the MBA Sport Management program. The school held a ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony in January for the 96,000-square foot complex.
The school is currently in the design phase of the project, scheduled to open in summer 2018. FAU’s original plan for the project, released last October, targeted construction to begin Friday.
