BOCA RATON — Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin had a feeling his return to Tennessee in 2014, nearly five years after unceremoniously leaving the Volunteers for USC, was going to be far from friendly.
All Kiffin, now entering his second season at FAU, was expecting were “mean words” and boos. Police and security working the game, perhaps for good reason, believed Kiffin was in more danger than he realized.
“It’s crazy. They were literally talking about like — from the bus in — a bulletproof vest,” Kiffin told ESPN’s Marty Smith on “Marty Smith’s America: The Podcast” this week.
