A few weeks ago, Florida Atlantic's receivers decided they had had enough. Mired in a losing streak than stretched for two months, Owls receivers determined they needed to make a change and put in extra work after practice.
To develop the muscle memory needed to convert passes into receptions, they caught balls from Jugs machines, over and over again. In recent weeks, it has paid off more for the Owls, who had eight players with receptions against Rice and four different pass-catchers on their game-winning drive against UTEP on Saturday.
"It started a few weeks back because we realized in the games, we'd catch some easy balls, some contested balls," receiver Nate Terry said.
