BOCA RATON — Florida Atlantic head coach Lane Kiffin had a message for his players when spring camp began in March: this year’s FAU team was not last year’s historic group, but their own team.
From a certain point of view, Kiffin was correct. Saturday’s 63-14 loss to No. 7 Oklahoma was not only the worst FAU has looked since Kiffin was hired in Dec. 2016, but a far cry from the Owls team that went 11-3 last season, winning both the Conference USA Championship and Boca Raton Bowl.
The final numbers for FAU’s vaunted offense, featuring former four-star recruit Chris Robison at quarterback and AP All-American Devin Singletary (American Heritage) running the ball?
