DE Trey Hendrickson cameos on offense Sunday as blocker

Florida Atlantic unveiled a new offensive package during Sunday's 28-23 loss to Charlotte that included defensive end Trey Hendrickson as a lead blocker on running plays.

The formation resulted in two short touchdown runs by running back Gregory "Buddy" Howell, who finished with three scores on the day.

Because Howell and Hendrickson both typically wear No. 9, Hendrickson swapped his number for No. 11 and wore it throughout the game. NCAA rules prohibit players with the same number to be on the field at the same time.

Owls coach Charlie Partridge said the coaching staff approached Hendrickson about the package and FAU practiced it throughout the week.
