BOCA RATON — Off to their best start since 2007, Lane Kiffin and the Florida Atlantic Owls open Conference USA play with a foe that’s given them plenty of trouble over the years.
FAU (2-2) starts C-USA play for the second straight season by taking on Middle Tennessee (1-2) in a rivalry that extends back even beyond their days in the Sun Belt Conference. When FAU was in its final year at the FCS level in 2003, their 20-19 win over the Blue Raiders was the program’s first victory against an FBS program.
Though FAU has lost 11 of 15 total games against the Blue Raiders, the Owls snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 38-20 win last Sept.
