Following the selection of three area baseball prospects between the MLB draft’s first round and Competitive Balance Round A, two more were drafted in the second round late Monday night.
Griffin Conine, the son of Mr. Marlin, Jeff Conine, was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays with the 52nd pick. Griffin Conine was a Pine Crest grad and went in the draft after three years at Duke.
He was second-team All-ACC each of the past two seasons. Before beginning his college career, he was drafted out of high school by the Miami Marlins in 2015 (31st round.
