The slogan at the bottom of the Dallas Cup logo reads "Welcome World," but it still can be easy for Dallas residents to forget how global the local youth tournament really is.
This year, in addition to the bevy of local teams, there will be clubs from places like Japan, Germany, Brazil, Mexico and the United Kingdom joining. In all, 184 teams will take part in the tournament's 37th edition, and the invitation-only showcase continues to build North Texas' reputation around the world as a soccer hotbed.
"Definitely one of the most important tournaments in the world, and we should be proud to be hosting, proud to have that many players and teams from everywhere," FC Dallas coach Oscar Pareja said.
