Watch: Jesuit soccer star Christian Lerma thanks Richardson Pearce athletic trainer for saving his life

Quick thinking by Richardson Pearce head athletic trainer Tara Grubbs and the handiness of an Automated External Defibrillator likely saved the life of Jesuit boys soccer star Christian Lerma, who collapsed in the final minutes of a match between the two schools last Friday.

Lerma is currently in stable condition and expected to be released from the hospital later this week. However, doctors are still trying to discover the cause of his sudden collapse.

Doctors implanted a defibrillator in Lerma's chest earlier this afternoon.

In this heartfelt interview with NBC5, Grubbs explains how the situation unfolded from her perspective, and Lerma shows just how grateful he is for a second chance at life.
