US Open Cup Preview: Fort Worth Vaqueros

On Wednesday, two North Texas sides will square off in the first round of the U.S. Open Cup. The Fort Worth Vaqueros, who are making their first appearance in the tournament, will play the North Texas Rayados at 7:30 PM in Richland College Field #10.

The Vaqueros were created in 2013 by former FC Dallas general manager Michael Hancock and began to play in 2014. The team competes in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), which is an amateur league, and will play their matches this season at Farrington Field.

The Vaqueros began to play at LaGrave Field when they first began but the stadium closed after one season when the Fort Worth Cats lost their lease.
