After a come from behind penalty kick victory Sunday afternoon, Tigres UANL are champions of the Gordon Jago Super Group once again, becoming the fifth team to win back to back championships in the top flight of the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup.
The Tigres win came over one of the best youth programs in Spain, Villarreal CF, after a strong run in group play and an overtime win against their hometown rivals, Monterrey Rayados, on Friday. In fact, it was the Spanish club that had the run of play for much of regulation, including scoring first in the 40th minute through Diego Collado.
