The Dallas Sidekicks scored a major victory Thursday night, beating the division-leading Monterrey Flash, 8-7, at the Allen Events Center, by twice taking multiple-goal leads in the second half and then holding off furious comeback efforts from the Mexican side.
The victory is a needed sign of success against a team in the top half of the division that had eluded Dallas (6-7) to date, especially after losing their previous home game to the Rio Grande Valley Barracudas, another team Dallas is now also chasing for division supremacy.
Dallas is still below .500 on the year and has a significant hill to climb to truly challenge for the division, but they had to show they could beat the Flash (8-3), especially at home, and finally did so Thursday in convincing fashion.
