Though both defensive spots, center back and outside back are very different positions. Still, FC Dallas coach Oscar Pareja is confident he has several players who can fill both roles.
"Center back, there's a lot more moving the pieces; you're in control of the line," said Zach Loyd, who has played center back for FC Dallas the last few seasons but looks set to begin the year at left back. "Outside back is a little more of an attacking-minded player ... They're quite different."
