As previously reported by The Athletic and our Twitter sleuthing, the transfer of Mauro Diaz to the Middle East has been completed, the club confirmed.
Diaz leaves an undoubtedly one of the best to ever don the red, white, and blue in Dallas. Super Mauro’s magical 2016 helped pave the way for FC Dallas to win its first silverware in 19 years. His calming presence on the ball and the way he pulled the strings were a joy to behold when he was clicking. However, his “special” treatment by the coaching staff and his tendency to sit out games with injuries and/or fear of injuries (turf) rubbed many fans the wrong way and they were ready for a fresh start.
