FC Dallas have been without a third string keeper since the start of the 2017 campaign. They’ve made by when Chris Seitz was injured by working the system and finding the league loopholes to make it work by bringing in Jacob Lissek from Oklahoma City Energy on an emergency loan and have signed Academy keeper Carlos Avilez to a USL contract. Though Avilez is not eligible to play unless there’s another case of “extreme hardship” like there was when Seitz got hurt.
These tinkering moves have worked, but they’re all short term fixes as emergency back up plans.
