Though 37-year-old FC Dallas forward Carlos Ruiz is a legend in Guatemala, he won't be returning to the country to face Suchitepequez in the CONCACAF Champions League group stage decider Thursday.
"He had some difficulties with his ankle. He was sore and yesterday it was inflamed," coach Oscar Pareja said.
Ruiz joins a long list of regulars who didn't make the trip to Guatemala.
