The Fort Worth Vaqueros overcame a lethargic start to pick up a 3-1 road victory against Katy 1895 FC on Thursday. Fort Worth (5-1-1, 16 points) snapped a two-game winless streak with the victory.
"Another slow start in front of goal, we squandered several good opportunities in the draining heat," Vaqueros coach Nick Stavrou said. "We needed Katy to score the first goal to get us going. After regrouping at halftime we won the game on a piece of dead ball class from Jamie Lovegrove and another set play."
Katy (1-6) opened the scoring in the 29th minute off a laser to the top netting.
