FRISCO -- Substitutes can make the difference, and Vancouver Whitecaps change Lucas Venuto certainly did Wednesday night.
Four days after seeing off Toronto FC, 3-0, FCD nearly had topped another Canadian visitor, this time from the other side of the country. But with an assist and goal in his 24 minutes of action, the Brazilian spurred a rally that saw the Whitecaps fight back from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw at Toyota Stadium.
With his back to the goal, four minutes into stoppage time, Lucas Venuto turned past midfielder Edwin Cerrillo and lashed a shot from outside the box that FCD goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez couldn't get to, with the goalkeeper looking undecided as to which hand he would use to block the long-distance effort.
