FRISCO -- MLS made a mistake with Freddy Adu.
FC Dallas has no plans to repeat that mistake with Paxton Pomykal.
In 2004, Adu was selected first in the MLS draft by D.C. United and, at age 14, became the youngest player ever to sign a professional contract in an American team sport. He became the youngest MLS player ever to score a goal that April and played in the All-Star Game that summer as a commissioner's choice. He played in his second All-Star Game in 2006, this time as a coach's choice.
"He was -- is -- a great player," Pomykal said.
