With FC Dallas men's side capturing the attention of pundits and fans alike in their double winning season, their female counterparts seemed to fly under the radar in their own table-topping season. The FCD Women finished their first WPSL season unbeaten in regular season play, falling 4-3 in the regional final to the previous season's WPSL champion Chicago Red Stars.
This was from a hastily assembled team with no budget, sharing rooms and splitting travel costs, wearing a hand-me-down ECNL youth team kit, playing on a different field each week. Through a real miracle performed by head coach, Ben Waldrum, and his back room team, FC Dallas was able to be represented in the second tier of women's soccer in a manner that wouldn't look out of place among the stars of NWSL.
