FC Dallas' longest-tenured player won't be back next season.
Defender Zach Loyd, a 2010 draft choice who played 180 MLS matches for Dallas, went to Atlanta United FC as the third pick of Tuesday's league expansion draft. Atlanta and Minnesota United, which also took part in the draft, begin MLS play next season.
The new franchises made five selections each from players made available by the league's other 20 teams, who were each allowed to protect 11 players.
Loyd, 29, is third all-time in FCD matches played behind Jason Kreis (247) and the late Bobby Rhine (212).
