FC Dallas trades homegrown midfielder Kellyn Acosta to Colorado Rapids

FC Dallas is trading homegrown midfielder Kellyn Acosta to the Colorado Rapids for forward Dominique Badji, sources close to the team confirmed Sunday to The Dallas Morning News.

A Plano native, Acosta has been a fixture for FCD since joining the first team in 2013. He played in at least 20 matches each of the last three seasons, appearing in 32 games in 2016 on the way to Supporters' Shield and U.S. Open Cup wins.

Between his excellent showings in MLS and call-ups to the United States national teams, Acosta became one of the prize prospects produced by the club's academy, which is the hallmark of the FC Dallas' model.
