The 29 year old Maurer has been with New York Cosmos since 2013, winning back back-to-back NASL championships in 2015 and 2016. He was named to the NASL Best XI in 2014.
A South Carolina alum, the journeyman Maurer has played for seven clubs in his pro career prior to joining the Huntsmen. In addition to Cosmos he's been with Universidad de Concepcion (Chile), Atlanta Silverbacks, New York Red Bulls, Atlanta Blackhawks, Chicago Fire Premier, and the Atalanta Silverbacks U23s.
Maurer also signed a short term loan deal with FC Dallas this last season, he was a backup to Chris Seitz on the FCD bench for their match against Montreal Impact.
