FC Dallas President Dan Hunt today notified the club's season ticket holders via email they would be receiving a check in the mail. That check represents the first of the club's new plan to give back to fans each time the team profits from the sale of a player.
The content of the letter below explains the math, and before anyone gets excited - no one's getting rich from this, but it a fantastic gimmick and exactly the type of brand marketing they club so desperately needs. Basically when they sell a player, the club only gets to keep a percentage (75% for homegrowns, 66% for others) and MLS the remaining amount.
