FRISCO--The tie has been hanging in Dan Hunt's closet since his father Lamar's passing in 2006.
It was a brilliant red tie with an elaborate Indian headdress on its face.
"That was my dad's favorite tie," said Hunt, whose father is enshrined in both the soccer and pro football halls of fame. "He wore it for 15 years. He wore it to all the Chiefs games. But I'd never worn it. I didn't have the guts - or the heart - to wear it.
"Until tonight."
So Hunt wore the tie to the U.S. Open Cup championship final Tuesday night between his FC Dallas and the New England Revolution.
