FRISCO -- The whole ball must cross the line. It's one of soccer's fundamental rules, and one that FC Dallas might wish wasn't in the rulebook after a scoreless draw with Suchitepéquez in CONCACAF Champions League play Wednesday.
As the clock neared the 90th minute, FCD forward Carlos Ruiz had the goalkeeper beaten, but as the ball rolled slowly toward the goal line, defender Erwin Morales cleared the ball off the line just before the entire sphere crossed to rescue a 0-0 tie and the point.
