The result wasn't what FC Dallas wanted Saturday night, but there were some bright spots in a 2-2 draw against the New York Red Bulls. Perhaps nothing shines brighter than seeing Mauro Diaz start and perform well in an 88-minute showing.
Diaz hadn't started for nearly a month with a hamstring issue -- that after he'd been sidelined for most of the season while recovering from an Achilles tear suffered toward the end of the 2016 season.
Even after returning from that injury, he hadn't looked like the top playmaker FCD had relied on to create attacking chances for the last several seasons.
