FC Dallas captain could return soon, goalkeeper fine after being taken off on a stretcher

The FC Dallas injury list may be shrinking soon, with center back Matt Hedges eyeing a return to the playing field sooner than expected.

Hedges, the team captain, was set to miss between four weeks and six weeks recovering from surgery on his meniscus underwent April 19. He was on the training pitch Monday, working on running and making quick cuts.

"Definitely ahead of schedule," Hedges said. "We're kind of evaluating how I feel and how I look doing the running stuff, so we'll see."

FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez left the Toronto FC match on a stretcher after a collision with Will Johnson.
