The Oklahoma City Energy FC and midfielder Alejandro Covarrubias have mutually agreed to terminate his contract. Covarrubias’ departure is the second of two roster moves in the past week by the Energy, the first of which was OKC’s trade for Andy Craven in exchange for Danni Konig.
Covarrubias, 25, originally joined OKC in the most recent offseason after spending three seasons with Los Angeles Galaxy II, where the California native made 76 appearances for Los Dos. While in Oklahoma City, the midfielder played in four matches and logged 229 minutes.
This roster move comes as no surprise after the Energy’s slow start to the 2017 USL season.
