Denton Diablos enjoyed a possession dominance on Saturday night against NSPL Lonestar Division defending champion Laredo Heat. Yet possession doesn't always turn into a win. But on this beautiful summer night, the possession paid off as Diablos took the imbalance and turned it into a 3-1 win.
With a brisk breeze blowing across the pitch, most of the early Diablos play came down their left wing through Julian Barajas. Even though Diablos dominated the early play, Laredo took a 1-0 lead on their first counterattack of the day in the 11th minute. Massive striker Jeremiah Egujie on a lone breakaway shouldered Diablos defender Blake Willis off the ball, turned and shot to the back post for the goal.
