FC Dallas’s U18/U19 academy team opened Gordon Jago SuperGroup play with a merciless drubbing of Everton’s academy team. Even without Bryan Reynolds, who is in residency with the US U17s in preparation for CONCACAF U17 World Cup qualifying, FCD’s academy team featured three players on pro contracts and at least six players who have participated in the US Youth National Teams.
In the first half, FCDY pressed mercilessly, and were rewarded with an opener in the 17th minute. Jesus Ferreira cut through three defenders in the box and unleashed a hard shot that the Everton keeper could only parry as far as Shaft Brewer, who easily tapped in to make it 1-0.
