FRISCO -- A late goal from midfielder Paxton Pomkyal lifted FC Dallas to a 2-1 victory over Coritiba in the semifinal of the Dallas Cup and sent the team to Sunday's final against Monterrey.
The 17-year-old, who plays on the first team but has joined the Dallas Cup squad to participate in the U-19 Super Group, ran onto a ball over the top from Jesus Ferreira and used the outside of his left foot to guide the ball into the net.
Minutes earlier, the match seemed bound for extra time after Romeu de Resende's free kick found the back of FCD goalkeeper Jose Mercado's net only for Pomykal to put FCD into the final as its quest to become the first MLS team to lift the Super Group trophy continues.
