FRISCO -- Costa Rica clinched passage to the knockout round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup with a 3-0 win Friday over French Guiana.
The Central Americans were heavy favorites entering the match, even more so when CONCACAF announced the suspension of Florent Malouda in the wee hours of Friday morning. French Guiana had fielded the former France international in its previous game against Honduras and was expected to have to forfeit that result.
That came to pass along with a two-match stadium ban for Malouda, though television cameras appeared to capture him at the Toyota Stadium complex.
