CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina men’s basketball team will open the 2016-17 season with a renovated locker room suite at the Dean E. Smith Center.
The $4.2 million project will include a separate locker room for players, coaches, and staff, new shower facilities and an updated players’ lounge. Other additions include a nutrition station, therapy areas, a media room and team meeting space.
Construction is “well underway,” according to Mike Bunting, UNC’s assistant athletic director for facility planning and management. The renovation is expected to be completed by the start of basketball practice on Sept.
