Oft-maligned in matchups against triple-option offenses, Notre Dame’s defense made a statement Saturday with a stifling effort against previously potent Georgia Tech.
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – A suffocating Notre Defense stymied Georgia Tech’s previously potent triple-option for more than 58 game minutes and C.J. Prosise rushed for a career-high 198 yards and three touchdowns as the host Irish downed Georgia Tech, 30-22 in South Bend.
The previously potent Yellow Jackets had scored 65, 69, and 51 points, respectively over their last three contests dating back to a convincing Orange Bowl victory over Mississippi State.
Middle linebacker Joe Schmidt starred defensively for the eighth-ranked Irish, recording 10 tackles including two for lost yardage with a sack and pair of quarterback pressures.
