BYU offensive coordinator Ty Detmer is revamping the BYU offense to look similar to the Cougar offenses of yesteryear. Included in that offense is the reintegration of the tight end position. Recently, BYU offered a California tight end whose father was a Cougar and went on to success in the NFL.
California’s Moorpark High School gave the BYU Cougars tight end Dennis Pitta, who just finished his sixth year with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens. Moorpark High School has another talented tight end who just received a BYU scholarship offer. “I had been talking to Coach Empey on twitter for about a month or two,” said Bentley Hanshaw.
