The Vikings allowed the fifth-lowest amount of points (302) in the league, which was the key reason they made the playoffs with an 11-5 record for the first time since 2012. Even with success in points allowed, they were only slightly better than 2014 (14th) in yards allowed (13th). Mike Zimmer will return for his third season as the head coach. He has an 18-14 record in two years with one playoff berth. Over the previous six seasons, Zimmer was the defensive coordinator for the Bengals. Norv Turner heads up the offense for his third year. Turner has 15 years of head coaching experience in the NFL and ten seasons as the offensive coordinator.
