Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith was forced out of Thursday's game after taking a helmet to his back. He was not able to return. It is now being reported by NFL.com's Ian Rapoport that Smith suffered four broken ribs. However, it could have been much worse. It was originally reported that he suffered four broken bones in his back. ESPN's Chris Mortensen has since confirmed it is broken ribs. Mortensen also had so good news. The injury will not require surgery and he says Smith will be back "sooner than later".
