FanDuel Suspends Paid Fantasy Contests for New Yorkers

Amid pressure from New York's attorney general, FanDuel has temporarily suspended residents in the state from playing in any paid daily fantasy contests.

FanDuel announced that it will temporarily restrict New York state residents from playing in paid fantasy contests on their site. For the time being, DraftKings will allow New Yorkers to play.

According to a release from the New York attorney general, "The New York State Constitution has prohibited bookmaking and other forms of sports gambling since 1894." It goes on to say,

Yet FanDuel and DraftKings insist that DFS (daily fantasy sports) is not gambling because it involves skill.
